On 15 January 2021, French beatmaker BlackDoe, released an EP titled ‘Pastel‘; A musical project entailing an experience featuring Korean vocalists and RnB/Soul beats. A little about BlackDoe
BlackDoe (or Alexis Berthe), is a Paris-based music producer with a variety of styles. His journey into the world of music began when he would release mixes on SoundCloud all the way back in 2010, and has progressed to a broader range since then. He has released a multitude of singles under his own name, while having produced for distinguished French artists such as Dadju, Tayc, Lefa, and Yseu. His style often varies depending on what he’s working on; Rap, Pop, RnB, and Afro-Caribbean are genres that he has delved into a unique touch in.

“Its a project exclusively featuring Korean artists. When I went in Seoul 2 years ago I was so impressed by the attractiveness of their culture so I had to find a way to work with them. Korean people tend to have such great taste (in fashion, music, art) but also to produce trendy and qualitative content.
My goal with this EP is to show European and French people more precisely that there is so much more than the Asian commercial successes: a dope underground scene is to be dug.”

Prior to the release of the full EP, BlackDoe had released two singles from the EP to tease the project. June 2020 marks the delivery of the first single, Mangue 망고 featuring artist oceanfromtheblue.

The name ‘Pastel‘ given to the EP signifies the nuances of change between the ‘colours’ of each track, illustrated beautifully in the sounds it aims to create with the collaboration of the artists. The EP additionally features tracks with artists jeebanoff, CHILDDIAHN, and Kizzy.

The album can be found on a multitude of platforms, which can be viewed from here.
