Producer, Singer and Rapper GRAY seems to be on a roll these days. Within a week he has released three different tracks – “Baby Don’t Cry”, “I Don’t Love You” and “Party For The Night”. These are part of his upcoming LP[grayground] releasing on 17th August. We already covered the first track, so this post will be about the latter two.
“I Don’t Love You”, which features COOGIE, was released on 10th August 2021. What’s interesting is that it is the only song among the three that has been made available on music streaming platforms. As such, we know for sure that both Gray and Coogie have contributed to the lyrics and composition, while Gray took care of the arrangement as well. The music video was also released simultaneously.
Like “Baby Don’t Cry”, “Party For The Night” wasn’t released on music platforms, instead, the music video was released on Youtube on 13th August. The song features LOCO and LEE HI.
I Don’t Love You
The lyrics to the song emphasize many times that ‘I Don’t Love You’. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case. Rather than being a fact, it is something that the artist wants to believe himself and make others believe as well. Throughout the song, we can find lingering feelings in the form of denial, anger and grief. The production for the song is very upbeat, yet it brings out emotions. The guitar present throughout the song is the backbone of the instrumentals.
The music video starts off depicting the artist trapped in a glass box. Throughout the music video, the essence of being trapped is shown multiple times. Almost all the sets are dark and can be described as cold and lonely.
Party For The Night
Party For the Night takes the theme of living in the moment and presents in a retro vibe. The message is clear – To let go of the boring routine for once, live in the moment and party hard. All the artists stress the notion of forgetting the worries and keep tomorrow’s worry to tomorrow. As one would expect, the production for this track is very pop, with retro elements.
In contrast to the previous track, the music video this time has a bright colour palette and a sense of freedom. It shows the artists breaking out of the daily work and letting themselves loose. There’s not much to decode and it makes for a good watch.
