ATEEZ are back with bombastic ‘Fireworks (I’m The One)’ on 1 March 2021. After around 8 months, the group also released their second part of their Fever series, ZERO : FEVER Part.2. Hongjoong and Mingi co-wrote the lyrics, along with EDEN, Ollounder, and LEEZ, who composed the songs on the album.
The song is burning with passion, entrapped with an EDM beat that really holds up their image, but doesn’t really offer a whole lot to show any variety for them. It is easily their least creative title track but there’s no need to hold this against them. While the vocals and rap are heavily filtered by the autotune, the choreography more than makes up for it. It’s the perfect party song and if you need an energy boost, it’s right there for you.
The lyrics are catchy, if not slightly suggestive in nature, but nonetheless, it will probably be stuck in your head for days. Other title tracks never covered their voices to the point it would be an issue but ‘Fireworks (I’m The One)’ is a lost opportunity to show their natural talent.
The visuals of the video are gorgeous, on the other hand. They go for a deserted wasteland theme, in my eyes, and it’s rough but free. The editing and transitions make it cinematic. The choreography is showcased well enough without any real plot divergence. As expected by ATEEZ, the performance was energetic and probably one of my favorites in terms of formation. I really love the outfits and sets this time but it also shows how well ATEEZ works on any stage given to them. They have real potential to be dynamic stars in the Kpop industry as they proved since their debut.
