Global Sensation BTS just bagged their first #1 on Billboard Hot 100 chart, making them the first ever Korean Act to do so. ‘Dynamite‘ released on August 21, 2020, debuted at No.1 with 33.9M music streams and 300, 000 units sold in the first week. Notably, the official music video for the single also broke the record for the most viewed video of all time with 101.1M streams in 24 hours.
They also bagged a total of four awards at the MTV Video Music Awards, 2020, including the category for Best Pop – hence, making them the first Asian act so.
The release of Billboard Hot 100 last night took the world by storm. Coincidentally, it was also member Jungkook‘s birthday, making it a doubly joyous occasion. BTS took to twitter to express their joy and disbelief at the announcement. The frenzied tweets warmed everyone’s heart as ARMY trended multiple hashtags congratulating the boys and wishing them luck.
Since then they have received well wishes from the best in the industry including The Weeknd, Halsey to Moon Jae In (President, South Korea) who congratulated the group, saying “It is truly amazing. It is a splendid feat that further raises pride in K-pop.”
Earlier today they went live to thank their fans and celebrate Jungkook’s birthday.
Unproductively might be hitting the rest of the world like a brick, but certainly not BTS. After their record breaking single, they plan on releasing another album in last quarter of the year to start off a brand new era.
